Before I start making comments on matters of religion, I should probably set out my stall and let you know where I’m coming from.
I’m an atheist, in fact more like an antitheist seeing as not only do I not believe in any sort of god, I’m of the view that religion is the problem – not the answer.
It seems completely illogical to me that anyone can have ‘faith’ in something that is so unlikely, unproven, unscientific even! A thousand years ago we understood little about the world we live in, a mystical power would have given some explanation to a few, but there is simply no excuse anymore.
We know about evolution. We know about the elements that make everything we see / hear / feel / smell. We know about tectonic plates (for the ‘Japan Earthquake was an Act Of God’ idiots out there). We know we are a carbon based life form.
We are NOT the product of a bearded deity! Or any other for that matter!
Give me facts, show me evidence and then maybe we’ll talk. I believe in things that are proven, that’s what makes me an Atheist. More than that, I believe that religion has been the cause of more suffering than is imaginable, that’s what makes me an Antitheist.
Atheism / Antitheism isn’t a religion or a way of life, it’s not even a choice – it’s the truth.
